The J.M. Smucker Company AI Notice for U.S. Job Candidates

This notice explains how The J.M. Smucker Co. (“Smucker”, “we” or “our”) uses Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) to review job applications from candidates (“you”). This notice explains Smucker’s use of AI in the job application process and what personal information may be involved.

1. Purpose of AI Use

Smucker uses AI-enabled tools from Workday to support and improve our hiring processes. In particular, Workday’s Suggested Skills and Suggested Jobs features may identify skills you may have, or career opportunities based on the information that you submit to Smucker during the job application process.  

These tools are used only to support our recruiting process. Hiring decisions are made by Smucker personnel, and automated tools do not make employment decisions on behalf of Smucker. We take reasonable steps to ensure that our use of AI does not discriminate against candidates.

2. Personal Information That May Be Processed:

Smucker’s AI service providers may process the following categories of personal information about you to perform the purposes described above:

  • Identification data: name, username, job title
  • Employment data: job history, skills, learning history
  • Recruiting data: resumes, applications, interview feedback, skills inferred from profiles 
  • Organizational data: if you are an internal candidate, our AI tools may process your reporting relationships, role assignments, current compensation and performance data

3. We May Update This Notice:

From time to time, we may change this notice to reflect changes in how we use AI in the hiring process.
