Coffee farming has always been a family business, often passed down through generations. As a coffee company, and a family company, we have always prioritized supporting the farms, the families, and the communities that help us deliver our business. One of the ways we do that is through our Seeds for Progress partnership. Transforming lives through education is just as important to our Company and our partners as it is to our coffee communities.

Seeds for Progress is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization rooted in Central America. They make commitments to the sustainable development of rural communities through access to quality education. They’ve been making great strides in childhood education and safety for over 10 years. They support teachers, students, parents, and coffee farmers every day to ensure everyone has a chance to thrive.  We began our partnership with Seeds for Progress in 2019 as a sponsor of their annual gala. The following years included multiple donations to causes such as hurricane relief, the Seeds to Learn program, and technology and teacher training at the Ruben Darío School in Jinotega, Nicaragua. Between 2022 and 2023, we proudly donated $362,600 for Seeds for Progress to establish the Cultivating Education child labor prevention program. This program in Guatemala and Nicaragua provides resources for the community to have nutrition, assistance, and a safe space for children of families that work during the coffee harvest to learn and grow.

Within the first two harvest seasons:

  • 6 child labor prevention centers were created
  • 1,017 children received services
  • 77,893 meals were provided

To date, the work being coordinated by Seeds for Progress has impacted:

  • 30,500 people
  • 520+ teachers
  • 149 communities

As we continue to grow this partnership, we look forward to strengthening coffee-growing communities in Central America and offering a safe environment for children to succeed.
