More than a Workforce, we're a Family
Generations of families work at our coffee facilities in New Orleans, and many employees have been here for a decade or more. Our people care about each other, are passionate about their home of New Orleans and are dedicated to keeping our legacy alive.

A Commitment to Quality in Every Cup
Every employee plays an invaluable role in delivering the best-tasting, highest-quality coffee to consumers every day. The knowledge and heritage behind the delicious, timeless taste of Folgers coffee has been passed down for more than 160 years.
Today, more than 70% of cups of coffee are consumed at home, and more Americans start their morning at home with a cup of coffee from a Smucker brand than any other. Our New Orleans facilities (which include the largest bulk coffee facility in the world and one of the largest coffee roasting facilities in the world) produce three of the top seven coffee brands in the at-home coffee category: Folgers®, Dunkin’® and Café Bustelo®.

Our History in New Orleans
Our coffee facilities have been part of the New Orleans community since 1963. We consolidated all coffee operations to New Orleans in 2010 and continue to invest in our people, which has resulted in incredible loyalty and world-class production. Today we are proud to be a leading area business with nearly 700 employees at our three New Orleans facilities.

ABOUT THE LOUISIANA INDUSTRIAL TAX EXEMPTION PROGRAM
Incentives provided by the Louisiana Industrial Tax Exemption Program, a state incentive program based on established investment leveraged by manufacturers across the state, were an important factor in our decision to consolidate our coffee operations from other cities to New Orleans. In 2010, we entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with the State of Louisiana, through the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, who agreed to support and approve our ITEP submissions.
In 2016, during the existing term of the CEA, Governor John Bel Edwards issued two executive orders that gave the ability for local governing bodies to reject ITEP applications. The New Orleans City Council rejected several of our ITEP applications on the grounds that they did not comply with the City’s guidelines. Importantly, the guidelines established by the New Orleans City Council conflict with and are more expansive than the state requirements.
Our position on this matter is simple and straightforward. We have not only fulfilled but far exceeded our annual job and payroll obligations under the agreement. In addition, we have followed the outlined ITEP application process and have no outstanding tax debt or previous filings under formal review.
